Originally built as a park in 1970s, Marathon Park is a 2-acre waterfront park on the west side of Capitol Lake in the city of Wausau. It is located at 1011 Deschutes Pkwy SW, Olympia, WA 98501. The park’s name is derived from the 1984 US Olympic Marathon Trials, which were held in the city. This event drew thousands of spectators to the park. The park’s main attraction is its Amphitheater, which is one of central Wisconsin’s largest permanent outdoor venues. The facility seats almost 10,000 spectators and offers a variety of events. Its scenic setting is surrounded by hundreds of stately white pines. The stage and permanent seating are arranged on a gently sloping earthen berm. Approximately 3,000 spectators can sit between the stage and the permanent seating, providing a breathtaking open-air show experience.
